Abstract

Teachers’ colleges as institutions of higher education, since the educational reform undertaken in 2013, are in a period of change in which the purpose is to raise the quality of education, so it is necessary that teachers who graduate are trained in the professional competences the curriculum requires. The present research was carried out with the graduates of five generations who took the 1997 study plan in which they self-evaluated the five fields required by the graduation profile for the preschool, primary, physical, special and secondary education degrees with specialization in Spanish, mathematics, and English. The results show that the graduates consider that the greatest weakness in their profiles is that of specific intellectual abilities. In the fields of mastery of teaching content, didactic skills, professional identity, and ethics, ability to respond to the social conditions of the environment, graduates consider that they have acquired the skills, knowledge, and attitudes that demonstrate their teaching competencies.
